APD Medication Validation & the 60-Day Window (Rule 65G-7)

Medication administration training is essentially one-time, but the annual validation must happen in the 60 days immediately before it expires — too early doesn't count, and a lapse grounds the staff member until they retake the full course.
Two different things live here. The Basic Medication Administration training is essentially one-time (Rule 65G-7). The annual validation — an observed check that the person can still safely pass meds — is where the strict timing rule lives (Rule 65G-7.004).
Validation must fall in the 60 days immediately before the current validation expires. Validate more than 60 days out and it doesn't reset the clock — it simply doesn't count. Let it lapse and the staff member cannot administer medication at all, and must retake the full Basic Medication Administration course, then revalidate (within 180 days) before touching meds again.
